A.J. McLean was born in 1978 and grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. He appeared in his first movie, Truth or Dare, at the age of eight and in 1990 moved to Orlando to live with his grandparents in order to focus on his singing and acting career.
Perhaps best known for being the perpetually sunglass-ed Backstreet Boy, McLean forayed into solo artistry with his album 'Have It All' after the band took a hiatus in 2008. He credits the rigorous tours, writing and recording processes he experienced during his time as a Backstreet Boy as instrumental in creating the album he wanted to, one that has proven more emotionally resonant with audiences and evidences a more diverse sound. “It gave me the chance to live through life experiences and see what I really wanted to write about,” McLean says.
In the past, Mclean had battled drug and alcohol addiction, but through the intervention of his band mate Kevin Richardson in 2001, along with the continuing support of his wife Rochelle, he overcame his addiction. In November 2012 the couple welcomed their first child, Ava Jaymes, into their family. McLean is set to release his second solo album, entitled 'The Anthem', in October 2015.Visit A.J.'s official website
